My mission statement is to “connect curious people with prayer and poetry so that we can find our true homes.” One of the key ways I’ve wanted to seek that mission is through offering my own retreats, book clubs, and workshops. I already facilitate three different poetry feedback groups (read more about one of those groups here), and now I’m thrilled to get to know even more creative kinfolk as I start offering events through my website.
One of the events is a poetry workshop this December for any star word/word of the year you may have chosen and/or received at the beginning of 2021. I’ll offer one word-of-the-year poetry workshop on Saturday, December 4th, and an identical word-of-the-year poetry workshop on Friday, December 10th. By the end of the workshop, participants will gain wider exposure to poetic structures and practices, as well as the first draft of a personalized poem to help them distill their experience of the year 2021.
The other event is a book club starting in January 2022 voyaging through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, which is a time-tested treasure that has helped countless people to grow in their self-confidence and skill as artists, including me. I’ve posted both events on my “Retreats, Book Clubs, and Workshops” page, which you can access here.
Both workshops are open to all level of poets, including beginner. For now, these workshops are all virtual. One day, though, I look forward to offering some in-person options (and if you’d like me to lead an in-person workshop or retreat even sooner, feel free to invite me to speak at your event ;). In the meantime, I hope you may join me at a star word workshop and/or The Artist’s Way book club. I’d love to get to know you so that we can find our true homes through poetry and prayer!
