“How to Publish Poetry in Lit Mags & Journals” E-Guide

Have some poetry you’d like to publish, but unsure where (or how?)

My “How to Publish Poetry in Lit Mags and Journals” E-Guide will walk you through every step of the poetry publication journey. The E-guide covers the following topics:

  • how to know when your poetry is ready to submit
  • how to research potential lit mags and journals
  • what publications may be a good fit for your work
  • how to put together a cover letter, bio, and poetry submission
  • what practices will increase your chances of getting published
  • what to expect after you hit “submit”
  • how to build a sustainable poetry practice
  • glossary of terms found in submission guidelines
  • example cover letters (including for someone who hasn’t been published yet)

Familiarizing myself with the publication world has often felt like learning a new language as an adult. Yet I’ve definitely grown in my publication success because of what I’ve learned along the way. This E-guide represents the fruit of many years of practice.

I’m a published poet, and MFA graduate from the Naslund-Mann School of Writing at Spalding University. I served as the final Poetry Editor for Geez Magazine, and as a Student Editor for the Good River Review. I have written, and read, copious amounts of poetry on both sides of publication. The picture above represents just some of the journals where I’ve been published. I’ve also considered the needs, challenges, and joys of serving as a contributor as well as an editor.
