The powerful energy that emerged after readings from Amanda Gorman and Lin-Manuel Miranda during the 2021 US Presidential Inauguration shows us that we are a people starved for poetry. Poetry meets us, and transforms us, beyond the reach of headlines and prose. If we didn’t know it before, we know it now: poetry is key.
Here are a few ways to support my calling to bring poetry and prayer into everyday life not only so we can find our true homes, but also so that we can heal our culture. The stakes are truly that high, friends. I take my calling to contribute to poetry-related conversations seriously, for the sake of mutual benefit and blessing.
An easy and “low hanging fruit” way to support me is to purchase books through my Bookshop storefront. I am a gifted and voracious reader, and I only pass along titles that I can wholeheartedly recommend. The book lists you’ll find on my Bookshop storefront represent a delicious variety of authors, topics, and time periods. A second way to offer support is through prayer. I welcome your prayers and blessings, just as I offer such prayers and blessings to others. Please pray that I can receive and recognize God’s provision, direction, and wisdom in my calling here. God has provided for me in crucial ways through the prayers of others, and I welcome such prayers as a gift.
